He has studied in the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Stuttgart University, completing with the Diploma degree(Dipl.-Ing.) in Automotive Engineering. In 2005 he was hired by BMW AG and became responsible for HMI andErgonomics of the brands BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce. Since 2010 Professor Eckstein is Director of the Instituteof Automotive Engineering (ika) at RWTH Aachen University and President of the advisory board of the AutomotiveResearch Corporation Aachen (fka).
