In recent decade, significant changes have taken place in global landscape of the equipment manufacturing industry and industrial developed countries have gradually retreated from labor-intensive industries or industries with high labor intensity but dedicated to manufacturing high-end products with higher technology and more added value as well as developing emerging industries. Leading equipment manufacturing enterprises dominated by multinational corporations from developed countries including USA, Germany and Japan have possession of the core technologies and represent the world’s advanced level of industrial chain. Due to the global economic crisis, developed countries have put forward such new development philosophies as reindustrialization and low-carbon economy etc. Equipment manufacturing industry has entered new competition era for occupying commanding technology heights, while technological development trend is mainly characterized by large scale, intelligence, precision, high efficiency and cleanness.

The equipment manufacturing industry in China, the world’s largest machine tool consuming country, has ushered in the stage of continuously deepening transformation, upgrading and adjustment after economic crisis, while with increasing upgrading of consumer demand in such industries as automobile, medical treatment and engineering machinery, higher requirements for its relevant machining equipment and processes etc. have been specified to improve manufacturing quality and meet the challenges from transformation. Data shows that China’s metal-working machine consumption accounts for 45% of global market, and China’s cumulative import volume of machine tool products hit 20.2 billion USD in 2012.

International Advanced Manufacturing Technology Forum 2013 will be held on October 18, 2013, which will coincide with opening ceremony of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC). Under the theme “Improve Manufacturing Quality, Focus on Transformation and Upgrading”, this Forum is designed to introduce international advanced equipment manufacturing technologies and production solutions, and explore advanced production technologies and solutions concerning machining of key components including engine etc. for China’s automotive industry subject to severe challenges from transformation and upgrading, and conduct in-depth analysis of production problems relating to machining equipment, measurement and chemicals for automobile and parts manufacturers as well as seek effective methods for improving manufacturing quality and addressing upgrading needs.
